  • 76 Townhomes- each unit will be 1,430-2,200 square ft. and will be built to reflect the surrounding community’s character
  • Riggs-Thompson House- will be renovated  into a single –family house, preserving its historic nature
  • Three Public Park Spaces- will be approximately 2 acres going towards open space, which will be accented by retaining walls, benches, and mixed border plantings

In Chelsea Court, EYA is planning for a transit-oriented, environmentally sustainable, residential development that would be built to the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for Homes standard.

Chelsea Court exemplifies the principles of smart growth and has received a Smart Growth Recognition Award from the Washington Smart Growth Alliance. The plan for the site will enhance Silver Spring’s pedestrian environment and provide attractive housing to an underutilized property.

Highlights of the proposed community:
  • The site is easily accessible to multiple forms of public transportation
  • Community is within walking distance of retail shops and restaurants, employment centers, and recreational venues
  • Townhomes will be built to LEED for Homes standards for environmental sustainability
  • Historic Riggs-Thompson House will be protected and preserved
  • Community design will incorporate superior quality architecture consistent with the surrounding neighborhood styles
  • Site will support mobility and accessibility by seamlessly connecting the current street grid through the new development
